What does a revision of Puerto Rican culture, identity, and/or nationhood necessitate?

What does a revision of Puerto Rican culture, identity, and/or nationhood necessitate? What about the national myth is harmful or inaccurate? Compare and contrast the course novels, The House on the Lagoon by Rosario Ferre and Daughters of the Stone by Dahlma Llanos-Figueroa, by offering an analysis on their attempts of revising Puerto Rican memory and identity by examining three themes and their representation in the novel.

 

You can use any themes discussed in the course, such as gender, race, class, religion, culture etc. In you analyses of the novels, you must clearly explain the scenes and characters of your choosing by providing context to the entirety of the novel. Remember to include a thesis, contextualize the novels, and to selectively choose evidence from the text to support your argument.
