Wal-Mart and the sustainability in the Globe. Wal-Mart is America’s largest retailer and its efforts to enhance sustainability have been tremendous.  In 2010, the company announced that it was going to reshape the way it operated by making lasting improvements on social outcomes and the environment. Additionally, it formulated three goals which included; creating zero waste, sell products that sustain the environment and resources, and use 100% renewable energy to conduct its operations (Wal-Mart, 2018)). Since 2010, the company has been focusing on products that have proved to have high embedded carbon such as meat, milk, clothing etc. and ensuring they are manufactured, packaged and transported in a way that promotes sustainability (Storm, 2018). Moreover, the company urges suppliers to examine carbon cycle throughout the manufacturing process which plays a crucial role in reducing environmental footprint.

Wal-Mart and the sustainability

In order to care for the well-being of consumers by improving nutrition in diets, Wal-Mart took the initiative to reduce the environmental impact of the food it sells. The company teams up with food producers and processing companies to make adjustments that align with its goal of caring for consumers. For instance, it makes sure the distance of shipping products is as short as possible and dictating how much water is used to grow crops (Storm, 2014). Notably, agriculture has a direct impact on climate change and the unsustainable use of water could result in a draught. Given that Wal-Mart is a large company, the food policies and practices have had an important impact. In regard to employees, Wal-Mart strives to make their life better by supporting individual’s talent, offering health care benefits, merchandise discount, and a chance to reach full potential in the company (Wal-Mart, 2018). The company, therefore, takes interest in the well-being of the workers, consumers, and the environment in general.
