Use of Clinical Systems to Improve Outcomes and Efficiencies

Use of Clinical Systems to Improve Outcomes and Efficiencies. According to Miller-Scott, cell phones, smartphones, and the internet are used by many individuals. Additionally, electronic devices are used throughout the healthcare system. “Therapies used in combination with technology offer an enriched environment and may be much more effective than single interventions in improving stroke recovery” (2016). Many technological devices offer a multitude of assistance for post-stroke individuals. There are bodyweight support gait devices, electrical stimulation devices, extremity devices as well as robotic technology.

There are existing barriers noted; however, positive outcomes with the use of technology are noted as well. Additional confirmation is required to authenticate “effective technologies, optimal dosage, and best procedures that rehabilitation managers should adopt in their settings” (Miller-Scott, 2016). Home and community-based technology should be the focus of future post-stroke rehabilitation.
