Nature of Organizational Systems
Nature of Organizational Systems. From now on, whenever you hear or use the term organization, think organizational system, because every organization is a system. The very definition of system—an integrated set of processes that have been systematically structured to carry out objectives defined by a mission and vision—also defines an organization. Fundamental to the idea of the doctor of education as a systems thinker is that from now on you will recognize your organization, school, college, agency, or corporation as a system.
- Consider the important stakeholders in your organization:
- School system (board, administration, teachers, parents, pupils.
- University (faculty, staff, administration, students, ac-creditors.
- Corporation (board, executives, middle managers, workers, customers.
Therefore, select one stakeholder group that you interact with on a regular basis. Choose one organizational process that is a responsibility of that stakeholder group. For example if you chose school teachers as a stakeholder group, you might choose grading as a process.
