Discussion #7.1: Infomercial Speech Assignment
Your goal in this assignment is to create a 3-5 minute infomercial, and persuade your
audience to purchase a UNIQUE product or service. A unique product or service means
that this product or service cannot already be in existence.
Your presentation will adhere closely to each of the five steps in Monroe’s Motivated
You will incorporate a minimum of THREE types of *evidence in the Need Step during the
delivery of this assignment: Peer testimony, expert testimony, statistics, anecdotes, or

A typed, FULL sentence outline that adheres to the correct outline format
Students will be required to actually use a minimum of ONE visual aid during the
Satisfaction Step (you must demonstrate how your product or service works – this is an
infomercial!). Important: Students who do not use a visual aid during the Satisfaction
Step will receive a zero in this part of the evaluation.
Strict adherence to each part of Monroe’s Motivated Sequence pattern.
The “Need Step” requires speakers to use evidence to persuade their audience to
purchase their product or service.
Please keep in mind, that the evidence that you use in this assignment will be as
CREATIVE as your product or service (In other words, you will be creatively making
up evidence to persuade your audience to purchase your product or service).
You will be required to incorporate and verbally cite the a minimum of THREE of the
following types of evidence in your presentation: Peer testimony, expert testimony,
statistics, anecdotes, and examples that persuade your audience to purchase this product
