Describe the components of the violence prevention model developed by the CDC

One of the most innovative elements of Operation CeaseFire in Chicago is the violence interrupters. CeaseFire has since become Cure Violence. The group trains community members to act as peacemakers who mediate community unrest, such as gang conflicts, attempting to divert likely retaliatory violence toward nonviolent alternative behaviors. The focus is on “changing the behavior of a small number of carefully selected members of the community, those with a high chance of either being shot or being a shooter in the immediate future.” Violence interrupters are trained personnel in paid positions. These positions are filled by church members and community leaders, but also by ex-gang members and ex-offenders. Thus, they are able to use their experiences (cultural knowledge and street credibility) in combination with mediation skills to decrease neighborhood violence.

Create a presentation that describes how violence interrupters fit into the framework established by a public health model.
